About Us

Extra Attacker is a spring/summer program that operates as a "Legacy" program for players with 14U and younger birth years. This means that once you join a team, you can continue being a part of that team in the future unless you choose to leave. This allows for lasting friendships and the excitement of seeing familiar faces after winter club play.

We place players with birth years of 15U and above based on their competitiveness. During the spring and summer, Extra Attacker creates a showcase-like environment for these age groups. This allows for first looks and film for players who are looking to take their game to the next level.

Our priority is to place players on teams where they can develop their skills and be competitive leaders. Some placements are based on the needs of legacy teams, while others are based on skill for new teams. We do not force teams, so if we cannot make a full roster, we will deny registrations. We want to ensure that players don't show up to games with unbalanced teams, such as 9 skaters and one goalie. To create a balanced team, we only allow for 15 skaters and two goalies per team to be rostered. Some exceptions are made at the discretion of Extra Attacker.

We do not hold tryouts. Instead, we ask all the pertinent questions to gather information for our coaches to review film, contact coaches and make informed decisions on the placement of players. Our model helps minimize the number of weekends players need to devote to the program which in return minimizes travel and expenses for the families. That's why we use a minicamp model. Players with 14U and younger birth years participate in a minicamp the Thursday before competition at the tournament site or close to it, at the first and third tournaments. We do not run a minicamp for players with 15U and older birth years due to availability. We encourage the older players to volunteer to help with minicamps as mentors if they are able.

Extra Attacker is a grassroots program that has been fortunate enough to have some fantastic players and families participate. The program has grown year after year, purely through word of mouth, based on the positive experiences of its participants. We enjoy playing the greatest game in the world and strive to create an inclusive atmosphere for all families involved.
